Recertification is a process that recognizes accredited members for active participation in the association, continued education, and competency in the practice of assessment.

RECERTIFICATION BOARD REPORT

At the 2019, AGM a resolution was made to transition from a Voluntary Recertification program to a
mandatory program. The previous Voluntary Recertification cycle ran from January 1, 2016 to December
31, 2018 with members needing 20 credits to recertify at the end of 2018. (All members started the
Cycle with zero credits. The resolution was carried at the 2019 AGM and Recertification is now a
mandatory requirement of accredited members.

The initial re-certification period was set for January 01, 2019 through December 31, 2021. We
understand there may be members who relied on the annual conference for re-certification credits.
Due to cancellation of the 2020 AAOM conference, the condensed 2021 conference and the lack of
continuing education opportunities since 2020, the membership requirement of continued education
re-certification will be deferred until December 31, 2022.

The initial mandatory program requires 15 credit hours during the cycle. Subsequent cycles will require
20 credit hours to achieve recertification unless otherwise modified by the Executive Council. During the
initial ‘phase in’ period between 2019 and 2022, up to 5 surplus education credits from the 2016-2018
voluntary program can be carried forward. In subsequent cycles, no more than 25% of the required
credit hours can be carried forward from one cycle to the next (i.e. 5 credit hours maximum where 20
credit hours are required).

Accredited members are required to report their acquired credit hours to the Recertification Committee
using the prescribed forms. The Association of Assessing Officers of Manitoba will maintain a registry of
approved recertification credits for each member. Members should continue to send in their request
forms to the AAOM.

3 credit hours can be obtained with full attendance at the 2021 Conference and AGM.
