The City of Winnipeg is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to provide strategic leadership and direction to their Assessment and Taxation Department in the valuation and classification of approximately 232,000 real and personal properties and 14,500 business premises within the City of Winnipeg, for the purpose of distributing taxes fairly to citizens. The individual will be responsible for the assessment of all properties in the City of Winnipeg representing 90 billion dollars and the billing and collection of 1.2 billion dollars in annual property taxes.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will collaborate with municipal and provincial elected officials, other senior administrators, civic unions, the public and the business community in building industry leadership recognized for excellence in assessment and taxation services.  You will be responsible for leading approximately 130 employees in a customer focused and market driven environment committed to a quality culture.

You will bring extensive senior management experience in the assessment and taxation fields with knowledge of modern methodologies and systems that provide service in a cost effective manner. You have proven leadership in maintaining a high quality product, responsive customer service, innovation and developing new lines of business.  Completion of post-secondary education in a related discipline is required, with a university degree considered an asset. Membership in good standing in the Appraisal Institute of Canada or Assessor’s Association of Manitoba would also be an asset.
