Real Estate Courses at Red River College

Do you know any one interested in the Real Property Assessment profession?

Red River College, (with Sauder School of Business at UBC) is offering two core courses in the Real Property Assessment Certificate , and the Diploma Program in Urban Land Economics. Students now have the option of classroom learning in addition to distance education.

These two courses focus on the appraisal of single-family and small, multi-family residential properties, using the latest techniques of investment and statistical analysis in a real estate context.

BUSA 1121 – Real Estate Mathematics (UBC)

This course (equivalent to UBC 121) is being offered right now for the spring term starting in April 2016 at the downtown (Winnipeg) campus.

The course will introduce the techniques of investment and statistical analysis in a real estate context. Topics include: statistical techniques, cash flow analysis, discounting, compounding, and the mathematics of real estate finance and investment analysis. There is also a brief overview of graphing and surveying. A personal computer with spreadsheet software is required.

BUSA 1330 – Real Estate Appraisal (UBC)

This course (equivalent to UBC BUSI 330) will be offered in the upcoming September 2016 fall term.

The course will introduce the concepts and techniques for appraising the value of real estate. It begins with an introduction to the appraisal profession in Canada and summarizes the appraisal process. The three classic approaches to value are presented and analyzed as they may be applied to single-family and small, multi-family residential properties.

Both courses are entry-level employment requirements, and satisfy some of the requirements for professional accreditation in the Association of Assessing Officers of Manitoba, the International Association of Assessing Officers, and the Appraisal Institute of Canada.
